Supervisor
Welcome to the Office of the Town Supervisor:
The Town of East Bloomfield is home to approximately 3,600 residents, which does not include residents residing in the Village of Bloomfield. East Bloomfield was settled in 1789 just thirteen years after our country was founded. This historic and beautiful community offers a wide variety of cultural and recreational opportunities for people of all ages.
The Town Supervisor is an elected position. The position was originally a two-year term, which has been changed to a four-year term. The change was made possible by a public referendum passed in 2015. I completed a two-year term in 2016/2017 and am currently serving my first year of a four-year term.
Other elected positions include: four Town Board Members, Town Clerk, Highway Superintendent, Tax Collector and two Town Justices. All elected positions are four-year terms.
The Town Board meets twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays. Each board member is assigned committee work. The Town's current committees are Audit/Finance, Buildings/Grounds, Highway, IT/Computer, Insurance, Parks/Recreation, Water/Sewer and Personnel.
There are several other town positions that are appointed positions which include: Code Enforcement Officer, Assessor, Bookkeeper, seven-member Planning Board, five-member Zoning Board and five-member Board of Assessment Review.
East Bloomfield has a lot to offer its residents. Some of those amenities include:
- East Bloomfield Historical Society - The EB Historical Society has been in operation for over fifty (50) years and it provides programs and activities throughout the year. Their newsletter is very popular and loaded with fascinating information about East Bloomfield and the people who lived here.
- Bloomfield Public Library - The Library offers relevant, timely and educational programs throughout the year. Our Library is a member of the Pioneer Library System.
- Parks - There are four (4) parks for the residents to enjoy. The largest of the four is Boughton Park, which encompasses 325 acres. It is a forever wild park and is open to East Bloomfield, West Bloomfield and Victor residents. The second of our parks is Veterans Park, which has baseball, softball and soccer fields; basketball court; contemporary playground, walking path and Legion building. Thirdly is Elton Park, which is considered the town square and hosts numerous community events throughout the year, for example in the summer months there are concerts in the park held each week. The last and smallest of our parks is Pickle Park, which is just off Main Street replete with flowers, sidewalks and benches for leisure and conversation.
- Bloomfield Central School District - Our school offers educational programs from Pre-K through 12th grade. There are two schools, Bloomfield Elementary School located on Maple Avenue and Bloomfield Middle-High School located on Oakmount Avenue. The Bloomfield Central School District has consistently earned high marks for the quality and variety of our educational and extracurricular programs.
East Bloomfield has beautiful vistas, rolling landscapes and scenic roadways. Agriculture is a predominant form of business In East Bloomfield. There are dairy and crop farms throughout our community.
East Bloomfield is a wonderful community in which to live, raise a family or set up a business. We are located at the western end of the Finger Lakes with access to the lakes, parks, restaurants, shops and services within a short driving distance. Routes 5&20, as well as several north/south state routes, provide easy access to major thorough fares such the NYS Thruway and Interstate 390.
